Weddings are milestone moments and should be one of the most special days of our lives. Frankly, it can also be the biggest contributor of environmental waste. Hanamizuki is committed to deliver sustainable wedding planning services and eco-friendly wedding decorations to host luxurious yet environmentally-conscious weddings in Bali.

Living a plastic-free and zero-waste lifestyle is the current movement that swept through the island of Bali. More and more people are starting to implement a no-plastic policy as well as adopting a healthier lifestyle. We want to bring to life the Weddings Without Waste trend to the island from small and simple actions.

You may or may not know of the floral foam. It is a green chunk of foam that is conveniently easy to shape and vastly used to keep flowers in place; also to hydrate foliage and flowers. Since it is non-biodegradable, it breaks down into micro-plastics that are harmful to the environment.

In the past, we had to use floral foams in our wedding decorations due to severe tropical weather and sunlight glares. Additionally, wedding receptions in Bali are hectic and fast-paced by nature, which makes it crucial for us to rely on floral foam to save time and effort.

With the current pandemic outbreak, however, many businesses have slowed down. Hence, our team has re-done a business model that is more mindful and sustainable.

We developed alternative methods for a sustainable wedding planning in Bali to use traditional Flower Frogs or Chicken Cages to keep the foliage in shape, in addition to using twigs, moss and coconut fiber for hydration. There are other eco-friendly options to avoid the use of flower foams.

The most essential part is to spread the word and value of using these sustainable techniques, and ultimately, implementing them into our daily operations. Our journey is long but we believe that our small actions can be a great impact to the island and the world. It’s time.
